Work inspired by a two month trip to Japan, exploring a diversity of landscapes. From the tumult of big cities like Tokyo and Osaka to rural landscapes also home to architectural treasures, each stage has contributed to shaping this creation. The emphasis was on the country’s traditional constructions and rituals, while integrating contemporary works by world-renowned Japanese architects, such as Tadao Ando, Kengo Kuma and Sanaa. This drawing illustrates the harmonious coexistence between tradition and modernity, both at the national level and in each japanese city. The iconic symbols of Japan, such as the famous Hokusai wave, koi fish and sakura cherry blossoms, also find their place in the artwork.
