Work inspired by the ongoing concern of global warming and rising ocean levels. The drawing represents the city of Bruges with a rich heritage, located near the Belgian coast. Now submerged, the city is inhabited by creatures who, to move through the streets, may have to wear hard hat diving helmets or simply free dive. In the design, Bruges references are the statue of the Flemish painter Jan van Eyck, now surrounded by aquatic plants, the tower of the “Poortersloge”, the typical bridges, the swans swimming in the canals,…
