Work inspired by a 3 month long trip to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The drawing expresses the multitude of cultural and natural wealth of the country but which the local people do not benefit from. It is indeed one of the poorest societies in the world due to the exploitation of wealth by a very small minority of the population at the top of the social ladder. This predominant notion in the drawing accompanies other lighter references such as the Zongo waterfalls, the influence of Christianity in the country, local vegetation and fruits, Lake Kivu, the Virunga national park inhabitated by its gorillas, the Nyiragongo volcano,…
